One to one therapy
You are a unique being and as such, so will your therapy be.
Sure, there will be elements that are universal, but just like your life is so exquisitely individual and different to any other life ever lived, so is your therapy.
My intention is to attune to you, to hear your goals, your blocks, your strengths and to work with who you are and where you are right now, to help you get to where you want to be, with as much ease as possible.
This will be different for everyone. This is a collaborative process. I am not here to do therapy to you. We work together in service of you.
It is not linear. It has an intelligence to it.
The process of healing, growth, transformation is not a linear one. Life is a mystery, one with exquisite intelligence. It can be confusing, scary, frustrating at time. As humans, we like a degree of certainty, we want to know what to do, what the outcome will be. It is not always obvious to the untrained eye. I believe that there is a deep wisdom within your body/mind and we will work together to uncover and listen to that.
Laughter and tears

Sometimes you cry in therapy. Sometimes you laugh. But always there is love. Through the lens of the heart, you can face more of yourself, you can let go of the darkness, you can let the light in.

I think of talking therapy as a very intentional conversation. Conversation with a deep degree of presence and attention from me and in time, from you too. We get curious together about you. I ask questions that I hope might deepen your understanding of yourself. We go at a pace that is right for you.

When we talk together I am listening to the story, to the feelings, to the beliefs, to what’s happening in your body. I pay attention to all of that and respond to all of that, to varying degrees at different times.

I may use a number of tools or practices within the sessions, that might focus on your breath or your body or your energy system, at different times, or I may direct you to those in between sessions.

Who is this for?
People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons but the bottom line is that something is not working, they feel in distress, uncomfortable, stuck, unhappy or anxious and they want change.
You may have diagnoses of depression, anxiety, BPD or something else.
You may have experienced a recent life event that has upended your whole world. You may feel the crushing distress of hating yourself and the life that you have created. You may have experienced abuse or
traumatic events in your early life that shape and limit your current one.
This is for you if you want change
Couples therapy
Being part of a couple can be one of the most joyous experiences of being a human and when
things are not working out as planned, also one of the most painful.

In a fully functioning couple we feel seen and heard, we share fun and intimacy, we feel part of a
team with joint values and purpose. Whilst many of us have a taste of that at the beginning, not
many of us have learnt how to nurture and sustain those aspects over the long haul.

Romantic relationships can be so painful because as adults we attach to our primary partner in
the same way that we attached to our primary caregivers in childhood. In a seemingly cruel kind
of cosmic joke, we are very often attracted to partners who treat us in some similar ways to our
childhood caregivers.

This can be beneficial in some ways, evoking positive aspects of our childhood care. It can also
evoke the the pain of the wounds we experienced in childhood, of being cared for by adults who
did not know how to do it well or who unwittingly passed on their own unhealed wounds.

The upshot is that the pain of today goes deep and can be intense, so we defend against our
partner as if they are the enemy. We create conflict, we lie, we shutdown or something else.
We do whatever we need to do to survive the pain. In doing so we lose connection with our
partner as we see them as the creator of the pain. Therapy can help you to find your way back to
each other, to heal those wounds and to feel joyfully alive again.

Coming to couples therapy is not an easy thing to do and so very often, couples come when they
are in crisis or are desperate for help because living in the relationship as it is, is painful and
unsustainable.

You may be scared of how your relationship will unfold through therapy. You may feel ambivalent
about whether there is a way forward together or not. There may have been something obvious
that has 'gone wrong’, creating shocking pain and a sense of not knowing what to do, or there
may be a slow erosion creating distance and isolation, and a wondering of ‘how did we get here?
And what now?’

My experience is that facing ‘what is’ with loving support, can allow a way forward to emerge.
I practice Imago therapy with couples. It is an optimistic framework that views conflict in relationship as ‘growth trying to happen’.

In 90 minute sessions, we work to restore emotional safety between the two of you so that you
each feel able to bring your authentic self to the conversation. Co regulation is one of the
beautiful assets of a thriving relationship. I will help you both to regulate your own nervous
systems, so that you grow your capacity to hear the other.

We work to re build connection between you. A growing sense of safety, allows you to open, both to yourself and each other and express and hear the pain evoked in you through the relationship. An often downplayed part of relationship therapy is the need to connect through positive practices. In therapy with me, you will amplify the strengths of your relationship that already exist.
As well as attending to each other’s points of pain, you will explore and restore positive aspects of
relationship, for example, fun, playfulness, adventure, or physical intimacy, romance and caring
behaviours.

It is my intention to help you to work towards your vision of the relationship that you long for.
